If you’d asked 5-year-old Charlie what she wanted to be when she grew up, I would always say a vet. I have always adored animals and tried to surround myself with them as much as I could. But when I got into my teenage years, I realised just how hard and long the veterinary training is (kudos to all the vets out there!) and I took another path.
Age 21 I joined the Royal Navy as a Logistics Officer, and had the time of my life. In my 10 years of Service I visited 13 countries, clocked up over 15,000 miles at sea and 500 sea days, and got my Bachelor’s degree. I really was #MadeInTheRoyalNavy. My favourite job during those years was my 2 years as a Lead Instructor at the Royal Naval Leadership Academy in Portsmouth. To do this I had to complete a qualification in adult education, and it was there that I discovered my passion for instructing. This combined with my love for animals, and especially dogs, led me to want a full career change to teaching people to live harmoniously with their dogs.
I now proudly run Puppy School classes in Worcester and also offer 1-2-1 support for new puppy owners, or dogs of any age. I am working towards accreditation with the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) and Institue of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT).
